Dr. Otto Warburg received the Nobel prize in 1931 for the discovery that unlike all other cells in the human body, cancer cells do not breathe oxygen. Cancer cells are anaerobic, which means that they derive their energy without needing oxygen. It turns out that cancer cells cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen. One appealing line of treatment therefore is to increase the body’s levels of oxygen. At first this seems in contrast the the fact that active oxygen molecules (free radicals) are what cause cancer and degeneration in the first place. The evidence is good however that oxygen helps.

There are prime and secondary causes of diseases. For example, the prime cause of the plague is the plague bacillus, but secondary causes of the plague are filth, rats, and the fleas that transfer the plague bacillus from rats to man. By the prime cause of a disease, I mean one that is found in every case of the disease.

Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. Almost anything can cause cancer. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen (oxidation of sugar) in normal body cells by fermentation of sugar.

All normal body cells meet their energy needs by respiration of oxygen, whereas cancer cells meet their energy needs in great part by fermentation. All normal body cells are thus obligate aerobes, whereas all cancer cells are partial anaerobes. From the standpoint of the physics and chemistry of life this difference between normal and cancer cells is so great that one can scarcely picture a greater difference. Oxygen gas, the donor of energy in plants and animals, is dethroned in the cancer cells and replaced by the energy yielding reaction of the lowest living forms, namely the fermentation of sugar.

In every case, during the cancer development, the oxygen respiration always falls, fermentation appears, and the highly differentiated cells are transformed into fermenting anaerobes, which have lost all their body functions and retain only the now useless property of growth and replication. Thus, when respiration disappears, life does not disappear, but the meaning of life disappears, and what remains are growing machines that destroy the body in which they grow.

All carcinogens impair respiration directly or indirectly by deranging capillary circulation, a statement that is proven by the fact that no cancer cell exists without exhibiting impaired respiration. Of course, respiration cannot be repaired if it is impaired at the same time by a carcinogen.

To prevent cancer it is therefore proposed first to keep the speed of the blood stream so high that the venous blood still contains sufficient oxygen; second, to keep high the concentration of hemoglobin in the blood; third, to add always to the food, even of healthy people, the active groups of the respiratory enzymes; and to increase the doses of these groups, if a precancerous state has already developed. If at the same time exogenous carcinogens are excluded rigorously, then much of the endogenous cancer may be prevented today.

These proposals are in no way utopian. On the contrary, they may be realized by everybody, everywhere, at any hour. Unlike the prevention of many other diseases, the prevention of cancer requires no government help, and not much money.

Many experts agree that one could prevent about 80% of all cancers in man, if one could keep away the known carcinogens from the normal body cells. But how can the remaining 20%, the so-called spontaneous cancers, be prevented? It is indisputable that all cancer could be prevented if the respiration of body cells were kept intact.

Nobody today can say that one does not know what the prime cause of cancer is. On the contrary, there is no disease whose prime cause is better known, so that today ignorance is no longer an excuse for avoiding measures for prevention. That the prevention of cancer will come there is no doubt. But how long prevention will be avoided depends on how long the prophets of agnosticism will succeed in inhibiting the application of scientific knowledge in the cancer field. In the meantime, millions of men and women must die of cancer unnecessarily.

The Warburg Theory of Cancer or “Warburg hypothesis” (as distinguished from the Warburg effect) postulates that the driver of tumorigenesis is an insufficient cellular respiration caused by insult to mitochondria. The Warburg Effect describes the observation that cancer cells, and many cells grown in-vitro, exhibit glucose fermentation even when enough oxygen is present to properly respire. In other words, instead of fully respiring in the presence of adequate oxygen, cancer cells ferment. The current popular opinion is that cancer cells ferment glucose while keeping up the same level of respiration that was present before the process of carcinogenesis, and thus the Warburg Effect would be defined as the observation that cancer cells exhibit glycolysis with lactate secretion and mitochondrial respiration even in the presence of oxygen.

High pH therapy focuses on using a combined nutrition and supplement approach to balance body pH by reducing the load on the overworked buffering system. The cells of the body can only live within a certain pH range or they will die. When we eat or drink, we affect our body’s pH values. When we take in something acidic, or of low pH (low oxygen) values, the body either has to pull alkaline minerals from within itself to neutralize the acid, or store the acid somewhere in the tissue. If you drink an acidic soda at pH 2.5, it takes 32 glasses of water at pH 10 to neutralize the acid. And, as one’s pH drops, the cells’ oxygen levels also drop, and its ability to function properly and heal itself diminishes drastically. 

The pH number is an exponent number of 10; therefore, a small difference in pH translates to a big difference in the number of oxygen or OH- ions. A difference of 1 in a pH value means ten times the difference in the number of OH- ions, a difference of 2 means one hundred times the difference in the number of OH- ions. In other words, blood with a pH value of 7.45 contains 64.9% more oxygen than blood with a pH value of 7.30.

At the cellular level, a continuous buildup of various waste acids all over the body creates what is referred to as a chronically acidic body pH. This system-wide low pH over-acidic condition allows the proliferation of harmful microbes and aberrant cells that begin to grow uncontrollably. Microbes and cancer flourish in acidic conditions. Maintaining a healthy slightly alkaline body terrain creates an environment wherein harmful microbes and lactic acid-caused aberrant cells simply can’t exist.

Our bodies must maintain a narrow range of correct pH in the blood at any cost. In fact, there is not just one, but various pH scale acid/alkaline measurements considered normal and healthy. Our bodies will rob nutrients or alter body compounds to maintain the correct acid/alkaline balances. 

To prevent being acidosis-toxicity overwhelmed, the body attempts to neutralize its poisonous acids continuously building up in order to maintain a healthy slightly-alkaline pH. Alkali solutions (pH over 7.0) tend to absorb oxygen, while acids (pH under 7.0) tend to expel oxygen. For example, a mild alkali can absorb over 100 times as much oxygen as a mild acid. More acid means a poorly functioning immune system with less oxygen in the blood, and therefore in your body.

That’s the major reason why eating healthy to stay slightly alkaline works. It’s a two-way street, the more acid in the body – the less ability the body fluids have to absorb oxygen. The more oxygen in the body – the more ability its fluids have to absorb oxygen.

Cesium, an extremely alkaline mineral, has been used effectively on cancer since the 1930s. Cancer cells are anaerobic and acidic. Their outer membranes are often impenetrable from normal antibodies and from killer cells once the immune system is compromised. Cesium chloride is one of a very few molecules that can penetrate cancer cells.

Caesium chloride or cesium chloride, is the inorganic compound with the formula CsCl. This colorless solid is an important source of caesium ions in a variety of applications. Its crystal structure forms a major structural type where each caesium ion is coordinated by 8 chlorine ions. Caesium chloride crystals are thermally stable, but easily dissolve in water. Caesium chloride occurs naturally in mineral waters. [Non-radioactive] caesium chloride has a rather low toxicity to humans and animals.

Medical properties of caesium chloride were studied back in 1888 by Ivan Pavlov and S. S. Botkin. They found that CsCl and RbCl induce long-term narrowing of the blood vessels (vasoconstriction) and the associated increase in the blood pressure (hypertension), stimulating the cardiovascular activity. 

Later research indicated that CsCl alleviates cardiac dysrhythmia and that the life expectancy is higher in regions characterized by elevated levels of CsCl in water and food. Preliminary results indicate that CsCl can be used in the treatment of depressions. The neurological action of CsCl is related to the protection of neurons from apoptosis and activation of caspase 3 caused by reduced potassium content.

Several reports suggested that non-radioactive caesium chloride can be used in a complex treatment of some forms of cancer. The American Cancer Society state that “available scientific evidence does not support claims that non-radioactive cesium chloride supplements have any effect on tumors.”

The knowledge about cesium metabolism and toxicity is sparse. Oral intake of cesium chloride has been widely promoted on the basis of the hypothesis referred to as “high pH cancer therapy”, a complimentary alternative medicine method for cancer treatment. 

Cesium is relatively safe; signs of its mild toxicity are gastrointestinal distress, hypotension, syncope, numbness, or tingling of the lips. Nevertheless, total cesium intakes of 6 g/day have been found to produce severe hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, prolonged QTc interval, episodes of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, with or without torsade de pointes, and even acute heart arrest. However, full information on its acute and chronic toxicity is not sufficiently known.

Interest in the biological properties of rubidium and cesium stems form their close physiochemical relationship to potassium. Reference to the Periodic Table shows these elements to be adjacent members of the Group I alkaline metal series, which has the order: lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium. Potassium, rubidium, and cesium display similar electrical, chemical, and physical properties. 

The physiological similarity between potassium…rubidium and cesium, was probably first noted by Ringer in 1882 when he observed that the action of rubidium on the contractions of the isolated frog heart was almost identical with that of potassium. The effects of cesium were like those of potassium in some aspects, but the similarity between rubidium and potassium was much closer.

It would thus appear that skeletal muscle of the rat accumulates these cations at equilibrium in a definite order of preference: cesium > rubidium > potassium.

Potassium and rubidium are often very nearly interchangeable, but cesium, although it resembles potassium more closely than sodium or lithium, is never a physiological substitute for potassium.

Although it is conceivable that different mechanisms are involved in the transport of each of these ions, the existence of a single process is strongly suggested not only by the close chemical similarity of the ions but also by the fact that each ion of the group appears to competitively inhibit the penetration of the other two into frog muscle.

Germanium does not directly attack cancer cells, but stimulates the body’s immune system, making it effective in the treatment of cancer as well as other degenerative diseases. A number of human cancer trials have been conducted with organic germanium. A summary of Phase I and Phase II human clinical trials reveals that orally administered organic germanium induces interferon production, restores previously impaired immune response, and has shown extremely low toxicity. Germanium facilitates the movement of oxygen across cellular membranes to deliver oxygen into the cells. Dr. Otto Warburg, Nobel prize-winning cancer researcher, discovered that cancer cells do not metabolize oxygen properly. Flooding cells with oxygen may retard the growth of cancer cells or even help return them to normal. A study published in the Journal of Interferon Research, concluded “…organic germanium restores the normal function of T-cells, B-lymphocytes, natural killer cell activity, and the numbers of antibody-forming cells…. Organic germanium has unique physiological activities without any significant side effects.”

Germanium sesquioxide, also called Ge-132, is a common dietary supplement that was popularized by the Japanese researcher Kazuhiko Asai, who operated the Organic Germanium Clinic in a suburb of Tokyo throughout the 1970’s. The biggest danger from germanium supplements reported in the literature is kidney damage, which is mostly attributed to contamination by germanium dioxide.

The low toxicity of pure germanium sesquioxide is well supported by both animal and human studies. Scientific data demonstrates a margin of safety difficult to surpass with both acute and chronic exposure through various routes of administration. LD50 is the “Lethal Dose” of any given material required to kill 50% of a given population. Published LD50 data for germanium sesquioxide is further evidence of its safety. The literature demonstrating its anticancer effect is particularly strong: germanium sesquioxide induces interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), enhances natural killer cell activity, and inhibits tumor and metastatic growth–effects often detectable after a single oral dose. In addition, oral consumption of germanium sesquioxide is readily assimilated and rapidly cleared from the body without evidence of toxicity. 

Organic germanium has been found also to be a dramatic immuno-stimulant. In controlled studies it has demonstrated marked anti-tumor effects and interferon-inducing activity, and restored immune function in immune-depressed animals. Studies on immune-suppressed animals and on patients with malignancies or rheumatoid arthritis suggest that organic germanium restores the normal function of T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, antibody-dependent immune cell-killing activity, natural killer cell activity, and numbers of antibody-forming cells, though not enhancing these beyond levels considered normal.

Rubidium is an alkaline trace mineral chemically related to cesium and potassium and is one on the minerals used in high pH therapy. 

Every cell in the body is like a little battery. In a cancerous cell, the charge (called cell voltage) drops. When the cell voltage gets too low, only 5 substances can pass in or out of the cell: water, sugar, potassium, cesium and rubidium. 

In studies with mice, rubidium has also helped decrease tumor growth, possibly by replacing potassium in cell transport mechanisms or by rubidium ions attaching to the cancer cell membranes.

Rubidium competes with potassium ions for entry into the body, also activates and mobilizes lithium. Very high rubidium partnered with low potassium can put muscles into a state of semi-paralysis. Rubidium will take the place of potassium in the sodium-potassium pump.

Rubidium, along with lithium, sodium, potassium, and cesium, is an alkali metal, named so because it forms a special solution called an alkaline solution (pH greater than 7) when mixed with water. 

Red blood cells of persons with cancer usually are “leaky”- the cell walls are more permeable – compared with red cells of healthy persons. Rubidium is one of the chemical elements that normally can move through red blood cell walls. The rubidium moves through the red cells about 20 times faster, and leaks out faster, in persons who have cancers.

Test your saliva’s pH to determine if it is alkaline or acidic. An acidic body provides an atmosphere that cancer and other diseases can grow and thrive in. A reading of 7 is neutral. Numbers below 7 are acidic, and numbers above 7 are alkaline.

The pH (“parts of hydrogen”) balance in the body is one of the most pertinent factors affecting the health of the body. The ideal pH of the body is indicated when the urine is 6.6 and the saliva is 7.4. These two pH’s in the body, one intra cellular, the other extra cellular, must be kept in the proper range for the polarities of the body to be in the proper position for optimum electrical impulses. In other words, nitrogen and oxygen are at the ideal balance. Both pH values need to stay as far away from each other as possible. If both pH values meet, death occurs.

Healthy cells are aerobic, or oxygen breathing, and have a high pH (alkaline). Anaerobic cells are cancerous cells, and they always have a very low pH (acidic). Therefore, having an alkaline body may help to prevent cancer. 

The body has three major mechanisms (buffering systems) that prevent dietary and metabolic acids from shifting the pH of the cells and blood outside of the narrow range needed for optimum function. A pH balancing act is continuously going on to maintain homeostasis. Too much acid in the body leads to acidosis, whereas high alkalinity in the body is referred to as alkalosis. Since many of the enzymes necessary for facilitating metabolic reactions only operate within very specific pH ranges, any acid-base homeostasis imbalances can lead to a range of malfunctions and degenerative diseases.

Radioactive cesium (cesium-137) is used in certain types of radiation therapy for cancer patients. However, there is no scientific evidence that non-radioactive cesium chloride supplements have any effect on tumors, and there have been some side effects reported.

How Is It Promoted For Use?

Cesium can be absorbed by all cells, probably due to its similarity in chemical structure to potassium. Proponents claim the intracellular pH of tumor cells is usually very low (acidic) compared to normal cells, and that cesium chloride supplements increase the pH level of tumor cells back to a normal level, which may be detrimental to the cancer’s growth. Since cesium chloride is claimed to work by raising the pH of the tumor cells, its use in therapy has been called “high pH therapy.” There is no scientific evidence to support this theory.

What Does It Involve?

Cesium chloride supplements are available in pill form. Proponents suggest a dosage of 1-6 g/day. In a single case report describing the effect of short-term oral administration of cesium chloride in a healthy individual, 3 g of cesium chloride, dissolved in fluid, was taken after the morning and evening meals.

What Is The History Behind It?

Interest in cesium therapy began when scientists observed that certain regions of the world with low rates of certain cancers had a high concentration of alkali metals in the soil. As early as the 1920s, some researchers suggested cesium might be effective as an anti-tumor agent. However, further research in the 1930s suggested cesium had no effect on cancer cell growth. The use of cesium chloride for high pH therapy was first advanced in the 1980s.

What Is The Evidence?

There is no evidence that the intracellular pH of a cancer cell is any different than a normal cell, or that raising the pH of a malignant cell will lead to its death. Because of this, the underlining principle behind high pH therapy has not been proven. Although it was observed that certain areas with low rates of cancers had a high concentration of alkali metals in the soil, a direct benefit of dietary cesium in the protection from cancer has not been demonstrated.

Studies conducted in several experimental tumor models in the 1980s found that the administration of cesium or cesium chloride lead to reductions in tumor growth and mortality in certain tumor-bearing mice such as those with sarcoma or breast cancer. In laboratory animals, chronic ingestion of cesium caused blood and neuromuscular effects, and even death. Animal and laboratory studies may show a substance has toxic effects, but further studies are necessary to determine if the results apply to humans. More research is needed to determine the benefit of cesium, if any, for people with cancer.

Are There Any Possible Problems or Complications?

Cesium chloride is not considered toxic. However, the acute and chronic toxicity of this substance is not fully known. Consuming large amounts of cesium could result in nausea and diarrhea. Based on results of animal studies, women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should avoid taking cesium chloride supplements. Relying on this type of treatment alone, and avoiding conventional medical care, may have serious health consequences.

Prostate Cancer Prevalence

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in the U.S.; it is the second leading cause of cancer-related death to American men. In 2002, an approximate 189,000 men were diagnosed with, and 30,200 men died from, this disease. African-American men are more likely than other racial and ethnic populations both to develop and to die from prostate cancer.9

Prevention is the Key

Scientific evidence suggests that about one-third of prostate cancers could have been averted with proper nutrition,2 e.g., foods rich in antioxidants and immune-stimulating substances such as Co-Q10. Historical and emerging research also shows that supplementing with herbs that have been proven to change the structure/function of prostate cancer cells can be the key to managing this disease. 3-5,11


In a study, sanguinarine was tested for the management of prostate cancer. Mice were implanted with human prostate cancer tumors. The study demonstrated the preventive and post-therapeutic effects of sanguinarine against prostate cancer.10 A study from the Czech Republic analyzed sanguinarine and proved that sanguinarine is an excellent herb which can deliver therapeutic results to men burdened with prostate cancer. Sanguinarine enhances the immune system by means of destroying cancer cells.11

The Science of Curing Prostate Cancer

Sanguinarine destroys cancer cells.3-5,7-11 Sanguinarine has been shown to cause cell cycle blockade and apoptosis (cell “death”) of human prostate cancer cells irrespective of their androgen status. This is an important finding because prostate cancer is known to undergo a transition from an early “androgen-sensitive” form of cancer to a late (metastatic) “androgen-insensitive” form of cancer. At diagnosis, most prostate cancer represents a mixture of androgen-sensitive and androgen-insensitive cells. Therefore, the key to the control of prostate cancer seems to lie in the elimination of both types of prostate cancer cells (without affecting the normal cells) via mechanism-based preventive/therapeutic approaches.3-5 Overall, the results of studies indicate that sanguinarine is a useful agent in the destruction of prostate cancer cells.


Persons with cancer should take a multi-function approach to repairing their body. First, by using Pancreatic Enzyme Therapy to destroy cancer cells.6 Second, by using Sanguinarine, a phytonutrient which has been proven to destroy cancer cells.3-5 Third, by the addition of ATP7 which allows the body to convert the poisonous waste of cancer into energy. And fourth, by using Co-Q10,8 an antioxidant scavenger which stimulates the immune system.

Cancer needlessly claims the lives of about 560,000 Americans each year!1 This article explores the use of CoQ-10, an immune stimulant. My intent is to educate, inspire, and show unprecedented hope to you and your loved ones. 

When the immune system is compromised, gene-damaging viruses are able to invade the DNA of healthy cells, thus creating cancerous cells.

Viruses Attack DNA

One largely unspoken cause of cancer is viral-related. Viruses attack DNA, which cause the immune system to weaken, thus resulting in different types of cancer.3 Breast4 and prostate5 cancer, two of the most prevalent cancers, are two examples of viral-related cancers. In a study of human breast cancer, 38.5% of the cancerous tissues examined contained a rodent-transmitted virus:3 mouse mammary tumor virus.

Viruses have contributed to the worldwide cancer epidemic. Aging and malnutrition weaken the body’s immune system and consequently leave the body vulnerable to harmful viruses. In the U.S., 77% of all cancer patients are 55 years and older.1 As of 2007, there were over 186,000 cases of cancer resulting from malnutrition, and the rates continue to grow!1

Some known viruses that cause cancer include: hepatitis B virus (HBV),1 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),1 human papilloma virus (HPV),1 and helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).1 Studies have shown that 75% of liver cancer is caused by Hepatitis B or C.The Epstein Barr viurs (EBV) infects more than 90% of the world population.9 EBV has been linked to: breast cancer, gastric cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, lymphomas, Hodgkin’s disease / lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, and African Burkitt’s lymphoma.2,9

The fundamental difference between cancerous and non-cancerous cells is that cancerous cells do not respond to adjacent cell commands.6 Cancer is a metabolic parasite which destroys the body’s bio-energy6 and invades functioning organs. Co-Q10 promotes the body’s creation of bio-energy by rebuilding and repairing the immune system. Co-Q10 is required in all human cells. In fact, low blood levels of Co-Q10 have been detected in patients with cancer.13

Healthy Immune System and Cancer

A study reviewed the relation of Co-Q10 to the regression of breast cancer.7,10 When 90 mg of Co-Q10 was administed daily for 3 months, 6 of 32 patients had partial cancer regression.7,10 When 300 and 390 mg of Co-Q10 were given daily for 4 months, 2 of 2 patients had complete cancer regression.7,10 In other studies, a 49-year-old patient had complete disappearance of lung-area tumor after 6 months of daily doses of 390 mg Co-Q10.8,10 A 75-year-old patient had complete remission with no metastases of single breast cancer after lumpectomy and taking 390 mg of Co-Q10 daily8 for 4 months.

The National Cancer Institute peer-reviewed studies and anecdotal evidence10 and reported that patients who supplemented with Co-Q10 outlive the statistical mortality rate for patients with pancreatic, lung, rectal, laryngeal, colon, and prostate cancers.10
